I haven’t seriously done New Year’s resolutions for a few years. Now it’s 2024, let’s give it a whirl!
For the year of 2024, I will:
- Get down to 165lbs / 20% BMI / 32in waist – BMI is arguably a poor measurement individually, just an indicator. Weight is also a poor measurement and waist size as well. I decided to track each of these instead of laser-focusing on only one. The laser focus needs to be on the eating habits I establish to get there. I tried a few times in 2023 to drop weight, focusing only on exercise. I ended up lightly injuring my back each time. Apparently, I’m not 20 anymore and still in excellent shape upon starting up again after years… go figure! The plan of action and energy is going toward where the best benefits will be obtained. The research I’ve done has stated, generally, that 80% of gains toward weight loss occur via diet and what you put into your body, and 20% comes from exercise. While I will be doing both I am trying to gear my focus and energy in that way. I’m also going to be doing accountability posts here throughout the year once per month. I’m starting at 184lbs and 26.6% Body Fat.

2. Read 20 books – This is the standard goal, I’m pleased with the yearly results so I don’t see a huge reason to change it for 2024.

3. Determine a source of income – This could be as simple as ‘find a job you don’t hate’ – though I would simply like to figure out a way to draw income in a way I enjoy.
